Panel: “New Air Monitoring for Tracking Health and Energy Benefits” Q&A now available

In the summer of 2023, the team behind Local Haze participated in a panel discussion hosted by the MIT Alumni Energy, Environment, and Sustainability Network (EESN) titled “New Air Monitoring for Tracking Health and Energy Benefits”. The discussion focused on the impact of new, lower-cost air quality monitors used in communities worldwide and how these innovative technologies provide more data sources for understanding health impacts and the effects of the ongoing energy transition. The Q&A from the panel is now available online.

The panel discussion was moderated by Sarah Simon, an Environmental Engineer and Chapter Director at Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2), who is also a member of the MIT Alumni EESN. The panellists included Karen Donoghue and Craig Newell, the creators of the air quality monitoring application Local Haze; Vin Ratford, CEO of Piera Systems; and Karthikeyan Kuppu, Urban Mobility Consultant at Accenture. During the webinar, panelists discussed how innovative technology provides more information for understanding health impacts and the effects of the ongoing energy transition.
